Going Organic on a Budget

The 7GenBlog at the Seventh Generation website has this article on going green on a budget. The post itself isn't exactly overflowing with new or unique ideas, but the comments are adding up with some helpful tips.

We already know that a lot of "green" activities (line drying clothes, walking instead of driving, saving water, etc.) will save you money as well as the earth, but organic foods are a struggle. That's why I created Coupons for Vegans - so we can all communicate about how to save money and be healthy.

Earth Fare has started their Healthy Lunch Challenge. Sign up to get a free Lunch Tote. Create a menu for this week and get a coupon for a free Itty Bitty Bites Lunch Cube with purchase of Earth Fare Peanut Butter and Earth Fare Organic Jelly or Conserves.

It looks like each week (from today until September 17th) you'll be able to create a menu and get a new coupon when you print your shopping list. I'm pretty excited about this since I'll be packing lunch for my oldest every weekday. A first for me, so I hope I can be creative 5 days a week!

Barbara's Cereal - Buy One Get One Free

I have never tried any Barbara's Bakery products, but this is a great opportunity to do so! "Like" Barbara's Bakery's Facebook Page and you will be able to print a buy one get one free coupon for any Barbara's cereal.

I'm familiar with the brand because Jennifer McCann recommends Barbara's brown rice crisps cereal for her Cashew Crispy Squares, a recipe in the Vegan Lunch Box cookbook. I made these a while ago using a different brand of cereal and they didn't come out so well. It might be time to give the recipe another go!

$1 off Arrowhead Mills from Mambo Sprouts

This is a great coupon for a great brand. Arrowhead Mills doesn't have a ton of organics, but two staples in my house are their multigrain pancake mix and their popcorn.

Mambo Sprouts e-mailed a link today to a coupon for $1 off any Arrowhead Mills product! Arrowhead Mills can be found pretty easily in the "natural" section of most grocery stores.

$1 off produce at Target

Target has a $1 off produce printable coupon available now. My Target doesn't carry produce, but if you live near a Super Target or a regular Target that has expanded their grocery section this is a good coupon!

Target has some good non-perishable organics available. Are there any organics in their produce selection?

White Apricot, the eco-friendly shopping website, has links to some great online retailers. Be sure to look closely at each link for coupon codes ranging from 10% to 30% off!

These boutiques have beautiful stuff but can be super pricey. I look for the links to the sale items. When you combine sale prices with your White Apricot coupon codes, you can get some great deals!

Great Coupons from Earth Fare

When I moved south recently I was concerned about my ability to find the health foods I'd become accustomed to buying thanks to living near a Whole Foods for the last two years. Lucky for me, an Earth Fare opened in my town just two days after we moved in!

If you are living in Earth Fare country be sure to sign up for their newsletter here. Every week they send out great coupons, usually for free items with a five dollar purchase. This past weekend's coupon was for a free pound of Earthbound Farms Organic Spring Mix Salad! The pound sized package retails for $5-6, so this was a great deal.

Having been a stay at home mom for the last two years I've learned to love the thrill of couponing.
